Alyssa Rainwater is a painter and illustrator based in Kalamazoo Michigan. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Illustration, from Grand Valley State University, were she focused on autobiographical zines, and oil painting. Initially influenced by the Neo- Expressionist and Fauvism movement her work focuses on giving a sense of emotional intimacy. Alyssa frequently combines self portraiture and recreating visual memories to explore personal experiences. Her zine work is also autobiographical and incorporates text from journal entries, and a looser relationship to the imagery than seen in larger work. Alyssa is interested in collaborating with writers and publishers, while maintaining a strong relationship with her personal work.
